Licensed Vocational Nurse- CNA INSTUCTOR NEEDED

Duties

• Design, implement, and evaluate CNA training curricula aligned with state and federal regulations, including long-term care regulations and HIPAA compliance.
• Deliver engaging classroom instruction and hands-on clinical demonstrations covering vital skills such as patient assessment, vital signs monitoring, infection control, catheterization, medication administration, and basic life support (BLS).
• Supervise students during clinical rotations in diverse settings including skilled nursing facilities, hospitals (ICU, emergency room, trauma centers), hospice care, and home health environments.
• Assess student performance through written exams, practical evaluations, and ongoing feedback to ensure competency in areas like IV infusion, tube feeding, airway management, and medical documentation.
• Maintain accurate records of student progress using EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks; ensure compliance with accreditation standards like NCQA standards.
• Stay current with industry best practices by integrating topics such as ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, infectious disease care, dementia care (including Alzheimer’s and memory care), pain management strategies, and trauma-informed care into training modules.
• Foster a supportive learning environment that encourages questions, critical thinking, and professional growth among students from diverse backgrounds.

Skills

• Valid LVN license with current certification to practice in the state; prior experience as a CNA instructor highly preferred.
• Extensive clinical background across multiple healthcare settings including hospital medicine (ICU, emergency medicine), skilled nursing facilities, hospice care, home & community health, and assisted living.
• Proficiency in medical terminology, anatomy & physiology knowledge, patient assessment techniques, and diagnostic evaluation methods.
• Strong familiarity with EMR/EHR systems such as Cerner or eClinicalWorks; experience managing medical records securely in compliance with HIPAA policies.
• Demonstrated expertise in infection control protocols, sterile processing techniques, venipuncture (phlebotomy), injection administration (including IV infusions), catheter care, and first aid procedures.
• Excellent communication skills tailored for caregiver education; ability to effectively teach complex concepts to adult learners with varied backgrounds.
• Knowledge of long-term care regulations and experience working with individuals with disabilities or cognitive impairments such as dementia or Alzheimer’s disease.
• Ability to adapt teaching strategies based on student needs while maintaining high standards of clinical excellence.
