Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Hospice Registered Nurse role based in Burlingame, CA. The Hospice Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care to patients in hospice, including ongoing assessment, symptom management, and coordination of individualized care plans. Day-to-day responsibilities include conducting patient and family assessments, administering medications and treatments, monitoring changes in condition, and documenting care in accordance with regulatory and organizational standards. The nurse collaborates with an interdisciplinary team to align care with patient goals, offers education and emotional support to families, and participates in case conferences and quality improvement initiatives. The role also involves maintaining infection control practices, ensuring safety, and communicating effectively with physicians, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals.

Qualifications

• Current, unencumbered Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of California and eligibility to work in the United States.
• Experience in hospice, palliative care, home health, or related acute/chronic care settings, with strong skills in pain and symptom management.
• Demonstrated ability to perform thorough clinical assessments, develop and implement care plans, and document accurately in electronic health records.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for working with patients, families, and interdisciplinary team members in emotionally sensitive situations.
• Strong organizational and time management skills, including the ability to prioritize multiple patients and tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
• Knowledge of hospice regulations, clinical best practices, and patient safety standards; familiarity with Medicare/Medicaid hospice guidelines is beneficial.
• Ability to work on-site in Burlingame, CA, including occasional flexible hours to meet patient needs; valid driver’s license and reliable transportation may be required.
• Comfort with providing end-of-life education and emotional support, demonstrating empathy, cultural sensitivity, and respect for diverse backgrounds.
• Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn clinical software systems quickly.
• Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required; hospice or palliative care certification preferred but not mandatory.
