Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and versatile Travel Registered Nurse (RN) specializing in Medical-Surgical care to join our dynamic healthcare team. This role involves providing high-quality nursing services across various medical-surgical units, ensuring comprehensive patient care in diverse clinical settings. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in acute and post-acute care environments, demonstrating proficiency in managing complex patient needs, utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems, and adhering to strict safety and infection control protocols. Responsibilities

  • Deliver comprehensive nursing care to patients with diverse medical conditions, including post-surgical recovery, chronic illnesses, and acute emergencies.
  • Conduct thorough patient assessments, including vital signs, physical examinations, and physiological evaluations.
  • Administer medications accurately via various routes such as IV infusion, injections, and oral administration, following aseptic techniques.
  • Monitor patients' responses to treatments, manage acute pain, and adjust care plans accordingly.
  • Utilize EHR systems like Epic or Cerner for detailed documentation of patient care activities, medical records, and clinical notes.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to coordinate discharge planning, case management, and long-term care strategies.
  • Perform specialized procedures such as suturing, catheterization (including urinary and vascular), tube feeding management, and ventilator support.
  • Maintain strict adherence to HIPAA regulations to ensure patient confidentiality and data security.
  • Support infection control practices through proper specimen collection/processing and sterile processing techniques.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development related to trauma medicine, infectious disease care, geriatrics, or other specialized fields as needed.

Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in the state of practice with current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification; ACLS certification preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working in hospital settings such as ICU, emergency room, trauma centers (Level I or II), or surgical units.
  • Proven proficiency with EMR/EHR systems including Epic, Cerner, or eClinicalWorks.
  • Extensive critical care experience encompassing ICU or trauma medicine is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with advanced procedures such as cardiac catheterization, dialysis management, or respiratory support equipment.
  • Knowledge of ICD coding (ICD-9/ICD-10), CPT coding for procedures, and laboratory experience for specimen collection.
  • Strong understanding of medical terminology, anatomy/physiology knowledge, and infection control protocols.
  • Experience working with diverse patient populations including pediatrics, geriatrics, individuals with disabilities or developmental disabilities.
  • Ability to perform complex assessments like triage or urgent care evaluations efficiently.
  • Excellent communication skills coupled with a proactive approach to patient advocacy and team collaboration.
  • RNs with a minimum of one (1) year of recent Medical-Surgical nursing experience in a Level 1 Trauma Institution in a metropolitan city with a diverse population. RNs will provide direct care to diverse adult patients with a wide range of medical and surgical conditions, which include pre- or post-operative care, respiratory illnesses, infections, cardiac conditions, diabetes management, gastrointestinal disorders, and orthopedic procedures. RNs will be performing comprehensive patient assessments, developing and implementing individualized care plans, administering medications and treatments, monitoring patient progress.
