Primary Duties and Responsibilities

The clinical nurse is a professional Registered Nurse who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients using the nursing process in accordance with the standards of professional nursing practice. The clinical nurse performs in the professional role described by the American Nurses Association (ANA) and the Society of Gastroenterology Nurses Associates (SGNA). The roles include providing care in preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative phases. In the intraoperative phase, clinical nurses may perform tech roles to meet departmental needs. They should be proficient with diagnostic, interventional (including call shifts), pulmonary, and other procedures within the GI/MPU.

The Registered Nurse will perform duties for the Santa Monica Hospital GI/MPU and Outpatient GI suite. Shift schedules may vary to meet departmental needs.

Job Qualifications

We’re seeking a highly-skilled, self-motivated nursing professional with:

• BSN or MSN required
• More than six months of nursing experience required
• PTU/PACU, Operating Room, ER, ICU, or Procedural Unit experience preferred
• BLS from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association required
• ACLS from the American Heart Association required
• PALS from the American Heart Association required
• Skill in implementing appropriate nursing interventions consistently
• Ability to perform comprehensive patient assessments
• Ability to develop, implement, and evaluate patient care plans involving patients, families, and staff
• Official transcripts and/or original diploma from a registered nursing program must be provided upon hire
