Travel Tele Registered Nurse

A Telemetry Registered Nurse provides specialized nursing care for patients who require continuous cardiac monitoring, frequent assessment, and coordination of medical interventions. This role supports adult patients with cardiac conditions, post-procedure monitoring needs, complex medical diagnoses, and changes in clinical status requiring close observation.

The Tele RN assesses patient condition, interprets cardiac rhythms within nursing scope, administers medications, documents care, and responds to changes in patient status. This role collaborates with physicians, advanced practice providers, respiratory therapy, pharmacy, and interdisciplinary healthcare teams to support safe, effective patient care.

Travel Telemetry Registered Nurses work contract assignments in multiple healthcare facilities and must rapidly adapt to new clinical environments, documentation systems, unit workflows, and interdisciplinary teams. Assignments may include floating when appropriate, rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and variable patient volumes based on facility needs. The role requires flexibility, professionalism, and the ability to maintain safe patient care while transitioning between practice settings.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct nursing care to telemetry patients requiring continuous cardiac monitoring and frequent clinical assessment.
• Monitor cardiac rhythms, identify rhythm changes, and promptly communicate clinically significant findings to the appropriate provider.
• Assess vital signs, neurological status, respiratory status, pain, fluid balance, and overall patient condition.
• Administer prescribed medications, IV therapies, and treatments in accordance with nursing standards and facility protocols.
• Respond to changes in patient condition, initiate appropriate nursing interventions, and support emergency response when needed.
• Care for patients with cardiac diagnoses, post-procedure needs, heart failure, dysrhythmias, chest pain, and related medical conditions.
• Educate patients and families regarding medications, cardiac monitoring, disease management, discharge instructions, and follow-up care.
• Document assessments, interventions, medications, patient responses, and care coordination accurately in the electronic health record.
• Collaborate with physicians, advanced practice providers, case management, therapy services, pharmacy, and other healthcare team members.
• Maintain patient safety through fall prevention, infection control, medication safety, and adherence to clinical standards.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
• Licensure: Active, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license. Compact nursing license may be accepted where applicable.
• Certifications
• BLS
• ACLS
• Skills: Strong telemetry nursing skills, cardiac rhythm recognition, clinical judgment, patient assessment, medication administration, documentation, and patient education are essential. The role requires effective communication, prioritization, critical thinking, time management, EHR familiarity, and the ability to collaborate with interdisciplinary teams in a fast-paced acute care environment.

Experience

Minimum one year of recent Telemetry RN experience required for travel assignments. Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, medication administration, and acute care patient management is expected. Additional experience may be preferred depending on assignment requirements and patient acuity.

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Progressive Care Certified Nurse (PCCN)
• Recent experience in telemetry, stepdown, or progressive care settings
• Experience with EHR documentation systems
• Quality improvement or patient safety experience
• Bilingual communication skills when appropriate for the patient population
