Must-Have

• Ability to read and interpret EKG strips
• Comfort with comfort care patients
• Unit requires two supervisor references for submission.
• Certifications must be current.
• Holidays should be rotated with core staff.
• Travelers must work two of the three major holidays, though requests will be considered.
• Basic dysphagia examination is required prior to acceptance.
• This is a pass/fail exam with two attempts allowed.
• Daily assignments may vary based on patient needs.
• Expected nurse-to-patient ratios are 1:1 to 1:2.
• Nurses will often not take patients while serving as charge nurse.
• Self-scheduling is used, but final approval will be determined by management.
• Schedules are available for access from home.
• Floating may occur to other facilities under rare circumstances.
• Common patient diagnoses include medical/surgical ICU cases such as sepsis and respiratory failure.
• Multidisciplinary rounds are conducted regularly on days.
• The unit has access to respiratory therapy and pharmacy services 24/7.
• Nurse aides are not present on the unit.
• Shifts regularly start at 07:00 and end at 07:30.
• Comfort with bedside procedures is required.
• Weekend requirements include a minimum of four shifts within a four-week period.
• Additional shifts may be available on a voluntary basis.
• Cancellation policy allows for a limited number of shifts to be canceled during the assignment duration.
