Shift: 12-Hour Nights

Job Summary

We are looking for a qualified Intensive Care Unit Registered Nurse (ICU RN) to provide specialized nursing care to critically ill and medically unstable patients in Sacramento, California. The ideal candidate will be skilled in patient assessment, continuous monitoring, and responding to changes in patient conditions while working closely with physicians and the critical care team.

Responsibilities

• Assess critically ill patients and develop individualized nursing care plans.
• Continuously monitor vital signs, cardiac rhythms, and other critical patient indicators.
• Administer medications, IV fluids, and treatments as prescribed.
• Operate and monitor critical care equipment, including cardiac monitors and infusion pumps.
• Recognize changes in patient conditions and respond promptly to emergencies.
• Perform neurological assessments and monitor patients for signs of stroke or neurological deterioration.
• Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient documentation.
• Educate patients and families about treatment plans and provide support during critical situations.
• Follow ICU protocols, infection-control procedures, and patient-safety standards.

Required Certifications

• ACLS – AHA Required
• BLS – AHA Required
• NIHSS – Required

Must-Have Experience & Skills

• Strong critical-care assessment and patient-monitoring skills.
• Knowledge of critical care nursing practices and medication administration.
• Ability to recognize and respond to changes in critically ill patients.
• Strong critical-thinking and clinical decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure ICU environment.
