Home Health Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)

Empress Healthcare Inc. is a Medicare-certified, veteran-owned home health agency. We are hiring Licensed Vocational Nurses to deliver skilled nursing visits in patients' homes across six Southern and Central Coast California counties.

You see the whole picture of your patient: the home, the routine, and the family in the room. You do it with a Registered Nurse assigned to every patient, a Clinical Manager, and a Director of Clinical Services behind you.

What you will do

• Provide skilled nursing care ordered by the physician and carry out each patient's plan of care, under the supervision of the RN
• Administer medications and treatments as ordered
• Accept, write, and execute physician orders, co-signed by the RN
• Watch for changes in each patient's condition and report your findings to the RN and physician
• Teach and counsel patients and families on the nursing care needs of care at home
• Document every visit accurately and completely in the visit report
• Evaluate with your supervising RN how each patient's care is progressing
• Join staff meetings, patient care conferences, and in-services, and help bring in PT, OT, or SLP when a patient needs them

What we are looking for

• Current, active California Licensed Vocational Nurse license, in good standing with the California Board of Vocational Nursing and Psychiatric Technicians
• Graduate of a state-approved school of practical (vocational) nursing
• One year of nursing experience is a plus; we welcome strong candidates at every experience level
• Sound, independent judgment and the initiative to act on it
• Current CPR/BLS certification (online certification is accepted with in-person verification of competency)
• For infusion visits: California IV therapy and blood withdrawal certification
• Reliable transportation to reach patients' homes across the counties we serve; if you drive your own vehicle for work, personal automobile insurance meeting California requirements, with proof on file
• Ability to travel to patient homes, to stand, bend, and lift as patient care requires
• Willingness to complete a background check, exclusion-list screening, and health screening, including TB screening, before patient contact

Pay scale

Pay is a per-visit piece rate, and you are a W-2 employee. Pay per visit ranges from $50 to $65.

Wound care and infusion visits are paid at the per-visit rate; there is no separate rate for them.
