Role Description This is a full-time, on-site Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant role based in San Luis Obispo, CA. The clinician will provide direct patient care, including conducting comprehensive assessments, diagnosing and managing acute and chronic conditions, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and prescribing appropriate treatments. Daily responsibilities include performing routine follow-up visits, wellness exams, and preventive screenings, as well as educating patients on disease prevention, medications, and lifestyle modifications. The role involves close collaboration with physicians, nurses, and support staff to coordinate care, maintain accurate documentation in the electronic health record, and participate in care planning and case reviews. The Nurse Practitioner / Physician Assistant will also support practice policies, uphold clinical quality standards, and contribute to a positive, respectful environment for patients and colleagues.

Qualifications

  • Current licensure and certification as a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, with eligibility to practice in California.
  • Experience in primary care, family medicine, or internal medicine, with strong skills in patient assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
  • Proficiency in using electronic health records (EHRs) and maintaining accurate, timely clinical documentation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including the ability to explain complex medical information in clear, accessible terms.
  • Demonstrated commitment to patient-centered care, cultural sensitivity, and working with diverse populations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team-based environment and to manage a consistent, full-time patient schedule on-site.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills, with attention to detail and adherence to clinical guidelines and regulatory requirements.
  • Master’s degree in Nursing or completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program; relevant board certification preferred.
  • Experience with chronic disease management (e.g., diabetes, hypertension) are highly beneficial.
